e46 spare key blank wanted

Hi Guys,

I lost my key to the e46 yesterday, luckily i have a spare.

i managed to disable remote locking, and have removed the lost transponder from the EWS module to stop a 3rd party from starting the car and driving off.

i need a blank spare key though, with the remote locking circuits (3 buttons) and virgin transponder...but posted to Zimbabwe? i can code and cut the key myself.. just that i cant find any HU92 blades here with circuit+transponder.

anyone on the forum who can supply these, or someone you can recommend who can help? much appreciated.

you can search on ebay, they sell for relatively cheaply there, presume aliexpress has them as well.

To latch onto this thread (apologies) any decent locksmiths that can cut the key without charging an arm and a leg

It's a cheap item - maybe possible to get it delivered to a friend in SA and then couriered to you? Or even pickup when you come this side to visit?

+1.

My girlfriend's car was stolen this past weekend and the keys to my E46 were inside.

Need to go to BMW to disable the previously active key and more importantly, find somebody/some shop that will sell me a new key and code it.

Recommendations for the Pretoria, Gauteng area?

ahh jeees, sorry to hear that. if you can find someone with a AK90+ machine, they can sort this for you quickly. you'll need to take the EWS module out of the car though (located under the dash near the steering column). you can disable your lost key, and code a new key this way in under 10 mins.

p.s the agents will ask for all sorts of paperwork, and charge you a tonne to get this done.

i was quoted USD$950 for a new key, and i had to provide all the cars import docs since coming from Germany in 2001. considering im the 3rd owner.. thats not an easy ask

Any luck with finding a supply of replacement keys + transponders?

I recently discovered that you can disable a lost/stolen key using ISTA D/Rheingold using a service function. So I've disabled my stolen key, now trying to purchase an AK90 and blank key & transponder...

Went through to Electromart in Kempton Park on Saturday to purchase an AK90 but they were out of stock:skit:

drivesure was a good recommendation, they can programme a new key and cut it, but you have to send in your working key and EWS module to their office in capetown. (they need the OG key to get the "grooving", and the EWS to programme the new transponder. if you dont want that done, they can sell the blank remote key with a transponder and remote)

im just waiting for a response at the moment on whether they can post the key to me in Zim...but the rest they can do

if you can get the blank key and the AK90, the rest is quite easy to DIY.

p.s once you get the AK90, if you need help let me know.. i've done it a bunch of times

The 10030A needs to be soldered back on board and I'm not the best at that lol, the other just needs to be in the key
