Hello Forum,
First BMW and need to tap into this knowledge base to make this work. It's a E46 318i, big step up from my old Jetta 3. I do the majority of maintenance work myself and would like to keep it that way.

Other interests: bass fishing, air rifle shooting and trail running. Live in Centurion.

Welcome buddy, first thing to do if it wasn't done already is overhaul the cooling system or the expansion tank at least. Some guys had theirs explode on them.

Cooling system is a weak point in the e46.

Thanks for the hint, will have a good look at the tank. Expect that an OEM part is the way to go? Have back wheel bearings and a clunk (when shifting between 1st and 2nd) that needs sorting. Started on the wheel bearing, but becoming a real job; and still need to get the hub off! Looks like there are two ways in doing this: a sliding hammer attachment or a large bearing separator (which is what I'm trying).

Car has 210,000 km and expect will need some work.

Will post some pic, but no eye candy here; just a great drivers car.
