Rings or bulbs?

Oh ok cool.guess what I've asked BMW here if they know about it or do it, the technician said: you can't do it, and if so you need to change the whole set of headlights! they stupid or what..lol

Did you fit it yourself?

Majority of those boys now stuff all, other than what their books say.

@oueryemchi: One thing that you should note is most of these angel eyes don't fit very well on facelift e46's (the guys with them on that posted here have the on pre facelifted e46's) The reason for this is on the facelift the light lenses and the shroud surrounding reflectors tapers in more that on the pre facelift and this interferes with the rings that go on the front of the reflectors - especially when the headlights electronically adjust.

You should also keep in mind that the rings for the xenon and halogen headlights are slightly different so you need to the get the correct set.

@sankekur: thanks for the trick, well I have seen many latest 2004-2005 facelift having rings on! also I just noticed the latest E46 have the top of the xenon (especially the big one) hidden a bit from the top, kind of beautiful design, I checked closely on mine and they are hidden from the top so I am wondering if the edge is there where I can clip the rings on! i don't want any sticking or whatsoever!
since mine are xenon so I am looking for compatible rings. still waiting for Vsomai.

@Chrisbrand: any tip how did you do that? i really have no idea how to connect the whole thing but my friend is a BMW technician so I think I will ask him.

You get the 4 rings and wiring harness. Really not difficult. Probably trickiest is just opening the headlight. Then one wire has to be spliced into the ecu of the car so when the key is in position 2 the lights go on. Then there is an extra yellow wire that gets fed through the engine bay to the inside of the car and spliced into the footwell light. This allows the lights to switch on when you press the unlock button. If you need any help just contact me. This is steps for the weisslicht kit and trust me i was exactly where you are now. Too scared to touch my car but once you start abd get things rolling you are gonna wanna do everything yourself.the steps are also available on jlevis website.

FYI, when I had angel eyes, I didnt splice into anything to get them to turn on, wasnt too fussed about them turning on when I turned on the ignition. I just used the park light connection. disconnected the parks, and then just pushed the terminals from the AEs into the park light connector

I have the face lift model and got some info back from US on prices. The units cost $60 then you still have to import. But take note of no warrenty.

Email they sent:
"Hi Steven,

These have been discontinued but we do still have a few sets laying around for warranty. I can offer these to you at the discounted price of $60, down from the usual $99 but they are sold as is with no warranty. If you are ok with this I just need to know if you have xenon or halogen headlights and we can get a set to you. Thanks!

Mike"

@ Steven: I GOT THE SAME EMAIL word by word from Mike as I asked them yesterday. so I am still interested in getting a set.

@Kabal: I am also not interested in unlock-rings-on, I just want to have the rings on when parks/headlights/beam are on - simple! mans only when i WANT TO switch light on. does this mean I don't need to wire into the box inside the car (next to passanger seat)?

@Krisbdand: wiring it to the electrical box in the engine is for : unlock light on. and the wiring to the inside box (next to passanger seat) is for light on when ignition is on position 2, is this correct?

if so then it perfect since I don't want to fedle with the insider box, also I want light on only when I turn the ignition on.

this would very helpful! thanks guys

Where do you live? Because maybe on can get together with organizing importing etc.

No, wiring into the ecu box splicing the red, white and yellow wire is for ignition position 2. Splicing into the footwell light is for lights turning on when unlocking.

You can also do what kabal did. Then u can decide when you want it on and off.

Nb: remember when importing the customs charge!!
My lights were R700 for lights, R300 for shipping, and R300 customs charge. Thus making a total of R1300.

Customs range from 10 to 30%. Deprnding on what they feel like

No balasts for weisslicht LED angel eyes. Just a small match box size control unit that mounts nicely next to the battery terminal. Ill take some pics later and upload to show exactly how everything looks.

Noob question, which are better CCFL or LED?

I read up that LED are more expensive, brighter, dotted and last longer then CCFL.

Sortin out my headlights by then end of august and I need to know which direction to go...

Ccfl breaks very easily. LED is brighter and lasts longer. You only see the dots when its ver bright outside but later in day and nigt time its rings. Sorry i havent uploaded pics yet. It wont stop raining outside!!!

Chrisbrand: I got this message from the vendor when I have asked him is there are 4 rings in a set and also with different sizes:

"I believe the halogen version has 2 different sizes and the xenon has the same sizes. We have both available but would need you to confirm which type of lights you have so that we send you the correct ones."

Normally the xenon have 2 different sizes! isnt it?
