I agree e46 m3 will get slaughtered by a m135 never mind a m2

Maybe up at the reef, but at the coast where the playing field is even, stock for stock I HIGHLY doubt this

M2 272KW 465 nm vs M3 E46 252KW 365 nm at the coast M2 wins can someone please test this.

M2 0-100 km/h 4,56 sec M3 E46 0-100 km/h 5,0 sec .

Correct me if i am wrong ! how does the M3 win ?

My 2 cents .

You said an E46 M3 will get slaughtered by a M135i, so I think he's saying that at the coast it will be very close between an E46 M3 and a M135i. Not an M2.

e90 M3 modded vs M2 stock.

Still think a e46 M3 can hang with a M2? I highly doubt it...

Lol. I've seen e46 M3's beat e92's, and I've seen e92's destroy e46's. I have beaten many a e90/e92 (not a fair comparison with my mods) as well as my fair share of lickings. Comes down to driver and condition of car really. The stats honestly don't mean much in my books.

That video you posted Ash doesn't say much, the M2 didn't beat the M3, just sat with it, as does the e46 m3 in the videos posted above. So what was your point? None the less, I do have my doubts that the e46 M3 will be able to hang with the M2 higher up, but that first video of the e46 vs m2 0-200 is legit. So how does one explain that? Anyway, I'm open to seeing a video of a decent proper race. But as we all expect, the M2 will most likely be the winner, but the real question is by how much? Will the e46 M3 be close enough to snap at it's heels? That is what I would like to see. =D

Who said anything about the M3 winning?

It was merely stated after more than 10 years the difference doesn't seem great.

Crash, I used to smash E46 M3's with my F20 125i, that was slower than the M135 and M2.

Not once or even once did an E46 M3 run ahead of that 125.

Your remark was that a M135 will slaughter an E46 M3 and that I refute.

M2 is another story all together

Yeah, your 125i was modified with Jb4 etc, and you are up at the reef. No surprise. Go race one in Durban. We all know an e46 M3 will get smashed up here.

:sorry:

No bru, the 125 was stock, I had the M135 modded. Not sure if u remember, I had the white m135 and blue 125 at the same time, both F20's.

Crash, my point is stock for stock a e9x M3 is faster than a e46 M3 any day of the week. Not my opinion, it's a fact from BMW.

So a modded e9x is definitely even more faster than a e46 M3. Hence the video, it shows an M2 running the modded e90 M3 very close.

Now will the e46 be any where close? Nope...

Interesting.

My friend has a stock 125i and I always run ahead of him when we have a run, by a lot.

And this was before supercharging and installing my 3:91 diff.

I gotta see this man, if you have any videos, please post, cause that is embarrassing for e46 owners, not taking anything away from your 125i, and as stated above, it is about the driver and condition of car, so anything can happen on the streets, if you say you beat em, then you did.

I am yet to meet an E46 M3 that can hang with me:rollsmile:

but we don't really care though if we're honest..we love both cars..i certainly don't care which 1 is quicker...2 totally different experiences & i can only speak from reviews..the M3 is great...the m2 is apparently great too. What i do care about is //M development of the B58...lets go!!!

Don't we all think this thread is kinda taken a u turn..

the initial discussion was the Clock comparison

followed by if you where given one which would you take..

then peanut gallery comments about old vs new..blah blah.. 2001 vs 2016.. i mean come on... if you wan't fair, how about keeping everything within the same playing field.. ?

E46M vs E92M ( less 2 Cylinders ) vs x35 ( less the hairdryers )

now the races between reef and coast...

and the main one... Modded vs Stock

back to the title... CLOCK COMPARISON... your thoughts...?

this thread is to Educate... not debate...

Modding a car will obviously make it faster... duh ??

racing against/with a modded car... duh ??

Preference !!! i like my E46, i know it's slow in comparison to a modded x35 /x?? car... i don't give a crap...

so we don't need to prove anything with this, that and the other..... it was a

"what do you think?" "what are your thoughts" ?" post...

i'm going to sit down on the toilet now... you guys give it a thought... no visuals please..

Honestly I'm so tired of hearing about e46 M3s and losing power at the reef, running better at the coast. Must be on 98 and all the other stories.
You chose ur car so live with it. Naturally aspirated cars have the issue of losing power at altitude. We all know that but that's the car. It is how it is. That's the weakness of naturally aspirated engines. And why I don't buy NA cars anymore.

The thoughts on the first video were given but not accepted hence all the side comments.
An e46 on the reef, at the coast or on the moon will lose to an M2 in a race.
That first video is far from a true reflection.
As well as anyone's hopes of a stock e46 beating a stock V8 M3.

I need to do another 1500km before my run in service.
After that I'll be glad to meet and race someone with an e46 to put this to bed..
But then we'll start hearing about how it loses power at the reef..
The most loved thing that everyone has been going on and on about, it's naturally aspirated engine is clearly it's biggest weakness..
So I'll take my turbo charged M any day of the week..

Very entertaining thread.

Would those E46 M3 fans put money on their car being as fast as an M2?

The M2 is superior in almost every way, with some areas being subjective (like sound, looks, NA vs Turbo), and if it wasn't then BMW need to give up making cars.

Obviously not a controlled comparison, not same temperature, road, time of day etc,

Thoughts?

Ok Spiro, lets go back to the OP.

As above, not a really good comparison. E46 M driving down the mindshaft and M2 driving up wouldnt be a controlled comparison.

Spiro, lets do a proper comparative test ? Your M3 and a stock M2 ? What ya say ?
