Found this pretty interesting.

[align=center][video=youtube]

Obviously not a controlled comparison, not same temperature, road, time of day etc,

Thoughts?

I think it shows their focus is not on outright performance but trying to balance fuel consumption/emissions with speed.

Which for an ///M car is wrong.

As mentioned.... 15 years of technology between the two, personally thought the M2 would be there much quicker than the e46, so the old girl in my view still hauls - in fact it looked to me that it was quicker 0 to 80 then was slower in the 80 - 140/150 area then seemed to get faster after that to 200. Maybe just a figment of my imagination....:tiptoe:

M3 was definitely quicker to 100, then slower the rest of the way.

Would take the E46 over the F87, if for nothing more than the sound in the M3 is real sound, not generated through the speakers.

the extra torque from the Turbo M2 makes it pull stronger up top but in my books, the E46 is still so impressive.i'd take the E46 between the two.

But be realistic....

Being realistic.

E46 has:
Driver engagement
Steering feel
Proper engine sound
Looks
(literally everything a BMW is about)

F87 has:
slightly quicker 0 to 200
(Meh)

Thanks for the share, cool video.
There was an M2 0-200km/hr video a while back and it didn't look that quick from 100 to 200 also.
I think its damn impressive a 15 years old NA car with almost the same size engine can be this close!

Very impressed with the e46 M3 and I wouldn't let mine go for any turbocharged bmw....unless ofcourse there's a new swapping payment option, where I can trade her for an M4
