By the way the below pic is with the mid cylinders at TDC and near TDC.
From the deck to the top of the piston it measures 7mm which implies a Compression ratio of roughly 7:1.
Eish

With the piston turning 7mm below the deck when at TDC, it has completely ruined all Squish advantages.

Sure it lowers the compression, but it does so in a completely ineffective manner. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was one of the contributors of the detonation..... Because of the bad scavenging of the combustion chamber when the exhaust valve is open.

Poor squish also adds to a lot of strain on the cooling system.... Another contributor to detonation.

All in..... A very bad execution in adding f.i

1000cc injectors, 7:1 cr........ sounds like they were aiming for the magical 1000hp just like so many others out there:floggin:

That rebuilt motor looks so Great! Well done! Your portion of the build is impeccable :praise:

Thank you for the compliment however I am not able to accept the credit as the block was assembled by the owner (George).

I assembled the head and the rest of the motor with him and started it.

@fordkoppie George calculated CR and advised me yesterday that it was no more than 6:1.
Also fully retarded exhaust cam and you have a recipe for disaster.

Well done dude this is looking sick man. Great work so far!

There is just something about turbo charging an E36 and E46 M3 that makes me happy. Its like your getting the best of both worlds and it just looks so damn cool.

My only issue is the blue silicone joins lol. Black would look so much better but that is personal preference!

Blue silicone piping is known to increase power by at least 29Killerwatts

Dyno results

0.7 Bar boost
Limited revs as engine is being run in.
We will need to change injectors to a smaller size and are currently looking at Bosch as well as the RC brand.

Will keep this thread updated.

Well done! A good start, assume it's on pump fuel? :praise:

95 pump fuel no additives.

Thank you owner is mighty pleased

That’s fantastic power on pump. So it’s a daily? :bravo:

That was the idea.
Build an engine capable of being used as a daily with a bit of spice.

if its not often going to run higher boost often its probably worth fitting a smaller turbo to produce better low end boost :smilebounce:
