Silly choice

Sell the M5, use the cash on the M3 if you want to do that. You will make more money selling it directly than parting it out.

Why not just keep the M5, no selling or stripping needed.
Can't you source an E60 M5 motor somewhere rater?

Will be sad to see an M5 stripped down :(

I am guessing an ETA of 2 more years till this car is running, and a million+ ZAR budget

I would go as far to say as the V10 conversion will never be completed, please prove me wrong.

I thought people would find this interesting regarding the V10 gearbox, from trackculture (btw, the only V10 E46 conversion I can find with a little googling)

What I've learnt for myself (and I'll update this a lot as I have a lot to learn) :
The E90/92/93 M3 6 speed manual bolts straight up without a single modification. My research showed that the S65 V8 in the E90 is derived from the S85 V10, but until I bolted up the gearbox it was one very expensive gamble.
The M5 twin plate clutch fits into the bell housing and using an M5 release bearing (£120 ) It all seems to go together as stock. (whether the clutch pedal feels like stock or not I don't know

Don't fck that M5 up bud. seriously!

Source a S85 motor for the E46. You won't lose as much as you would parting the M5.

Rumour has it that it will be turbo'd :fencelook:

Supercharged is my bet

I agree...."safest" bet. Too many things to possibly go wrong on a car not turbo'd from the factory.

I agree...Supercharged......but i remember hearing turbo and that was the day we went for a spin.

Awwww its like that now.......
Turbo would be more fun but SC would be more reliable.

There is a fairly bashed M5 at City deep Auto...

Car is in a front end, and obviously a write off with suspension bits looking like swiss cheese but the motor looks good....

Have also heard the same from local sources.

I have to agree stripping the M5 seriously doesn't sound like the best idea, thx leonard for pointing him in the right direction

theres lots of M5s around man, maybe with the stripping you can make enough to buy a new one:rollsmile: or put the S54 in the M5 (worlds first?) and turbo the crap out of it:rollsmile: either way V10 in the M3.
