I tint would help cut down UV. End of the day nothing is UV proof, just need to slow it down as much as possible. But having UV protected fabric will help a great deal.

newer cars have iron oxide in the glass to block uv rays im just wondering how much uv protected fabric is needed in these...

Then the Q still remains - who is doing it for you?

A family member of mine arranged for it to get done at his buddy who does oem work for some dealers :thumbs:
Can maybe speak to him if you need things done. I gave him all the interior parts loose so he aint have to strip it out the car.

So who is doing the upholstery for you?
Is that real suede or alcantara? Where did you source the material?

Its some sort of suede that my upholsterer sourced for me:thumbs::inlove::joy:
The A+B+C pillars done too.:thumbs::inlove::joy:

Just check that it is UV protected. I couldn't find any locally that was. And you don't want to have to redo it in 6 months.

Will follow that up and let you know.:ty::ty:

does it still get destroyed even though the glass has UV filters in it?

The sun is powerful

how powerful :) i want to do this to my car thats why i ask...

Mine has been in over a year, 0 fade, I have no tint. But my car does not spend much time in the sun.

I bought this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Sued..._Accessories&hash=item4aac76bc6f#ht_553wt_935

I cant remember if I got 4 or 5 yards. But I still have about a yard left over. I did Roof, sunroof, A + C pillar and rear shelf.

What was the total cost to do your lining material + labour

Big thing was the shipping, that was abit over R1000. The fabric was about R500. Labour to install was about R1200. Removal of the sunroof was part of a big service, so not sure what that would have cost, but probably alot about R1000 if done separately.
Just going on memory here, so some things may not be correct.

I am sorry but that work on the rear seats looks a bit shoddy.

I'm sure its not the finished product. After seeing this project in the flesh, Mr M3M5 does not take shortcuts.:thumbs:

the front passenger seat has a few ripples on the red sides... which i thought were a bit iffy but i would be able to live with it...

the rear seats have folds and ripples everywhere... seeing as you have to take the rear seat back anyway i would take the passenger seat back also to get fixed...
