E46 M3 Sticky Gears when cold

Is it normal for the gears to be sticky and notchy when the car is cold and smooth when it heats up..?

Um, I have an E90 and BMW gave me a new gearbox for that very problem :fencelook:

Yes.
All the variants of the Getrag 420 are like that. Some are just worse than others.
If yours are quiet, doesn't grind and get smooth when hot, then all is well

My E46 318 does that as well... so I often warm the car a bit longer to avoid it... it pisses me off cause I feel like I'm gonna break something! :thumbdo:
