e46 m3 possible coil issues

Hi guys

While driving around 60-80km/h yest, my car started driving roughly
It has a very rough idle as well, whether cold or hot.

I suspect it could be a coil issue

Can anyone shed some light on what the problem could be?

It could be, happened twice to me already. Well actually one was a just about brand new OEM spark plug that went bad and took the coil pack with it.

Get codes read, do coil pack tests, its easy to do.
New Bosch coils area about 50% less direct from Diesel Electric (about R500), buy a spare, because you never know when one is gonna go.

Oh and the adjustable wrench in the boot, thats the perfect size for removing coils.

Had same thing in December, easy way to check is start her up then remove the coil on the the cylinders one by one, so you pop the coil plug out, if the idle gets worse reconnect and move to the next one, repeat till you find the one that makes no difference. I have 5 spares in the cupboard because I replaced all of mine, plugs too. I have all the part numbers if you need.

It just happens, mine was after Burgy got my one running again with the charger on it, happened under heavy acceleration, thought I'd dropped a cylinder the vibration was so bad.

Will be a coil or a spark plug.
