Hi fanatics

My E46 M has been feeling very sluggish lately, so I read the codes using inpa and this is what I got...

I've already changed the solenoid plate seals re-soldered the joints inside the control box and cleaned the solenoid valves as per beisan system instructions but this code remains.

:ty:

Apologies for the skew pic. I uploaded this from my cell.

Ugh... not this error again. This is Inlet-VANOS adaptation error.

I had this error for months after my rebuild with Peter. I changed the solenoid, I did pump disc, I did seals, pretty much everything and eventually I replaced the entire vanos unit. Could not get rid of this error. Since my rebuild with Kamal, I do not have this error.

Here is a handy website I use for determining what the error codes actually mean.

My car was down on power for ages thanks to this error. My dyno comparison figures showed a 40nm drop in Torque when Vanos was supposed to engage. Sorry man, it is a dark gremlin this one.

May I suggest that you start by looking at your cam timing. My car failed a vanos test and we got rid of this error once we redid cam timing on my car back in December 2014, but my engine problems started merely weeks after that and I just parked the car for months until the rebuild. Ever since getting the car back the error has not reappeared.

As Crash mentioned above...

internal index 241 is Inlet-VANOS adaptation

possible timing issue CAM adaptation, >>> if all components have been looked at already <<<

did you do any work around the CAM Gear ? if not check the wiring on the Inlet side i would guess

Havent done any work around the cam gear yet

i think maybe open the Solenoid pack and test for continuity from the Pin side all the way through to the end solder points, might be a bad track or slight lack of contact along the way....
