E46 M3 for E36 M3

So as im going thru gumtree i see that guys with good looking E46 M3 want to swop for a E36 M3 so my question is why?

Wot makes the E36 so special?
Is the E46 really so bad when it comes to the electronics?

Please help. I love them both but cant decide which one to get.

I have actually seen this alot as well recently on gumtree, but don't think they want a straight up swop but rather swop + cash

Fozeyl both cars are good in their own way (you can turn the e46 nanny off)

IMHO the e46 M3 is 2 x better at everything compared to the e36 M3, but and this is a big BUT, the e46 M3 costs 3 x more to fix when something goes wrong

All M cars of that era had twin pipes. Only later with the E39 M5 and E46 M3 did they switch over to 4 pipes

I know the guy, he is from my area.

The only reason that he wants to swop is that he regrets selling his mint 4dr M3 for the 4Pipe. Every time I see him with the car he tells me how much he misses his 4dr.:nonono:
