Porsche is happy with a 0/5W 40 setup for the GT3's, so is Ferrari with the 458 and you know how those things rev, but as far as i know they also say 10-60 for hot climate/track days.
It is a topic of great controversy. After seeing the Z4M at 60k km with worn bearings it changed my mind a bit.
The theory goes that the thicker 10w60 not only lacks cold start protection but also lacks evacuating the bearings properly. It just takes one poor judgement (cold hard rev) to damage the bearings and once they're worn through they eat away quite quickly.
The thinner lighter 10w50 or 0w40 would solve both those problems.
Only thing I'm worried about is that oil consumption might take place.
Oh and not to forget to mention the thinner oil won't strain the oil pump as much and free up some engine drive losses (MOAR POWER
