e46 M3 Decat options

Hi guys

I would like to do a decat on my e46 M3 but i cant decide if it is better to
1. clean out the original cats or
2. put a new straight pipe in and keep original cats aside

I have heard different opinions of some saying option 2 is less effective
If anyone has experience on this topic please advise

Just remove the cats.... you wont regret it. Been there, done that!

keep the cats intact, you will fall on your back when you hear what they cost..
replace with pipe..
