E46 M3 cutting out at 3000rpm

hi guys, on a E46 M3, at times the car revs only to 3000rpm and literally stops revving as if the car has a rev limiter, in past experience with my E36 4door M3 i renewed the crankshaft position sensor and that seemed to have sorted itself out, would the same apply to the E46 M3?


i have run a diagnostic on an AUTOBOSS and the car doesnt show any faults...

your advice would be appreciated...

autoboss will pick up any problems regarding sensors etc.. i would check ignition relays and fuel pump relays!

Check the Airbox Intake connection to the head.
Those intake boots must be checked
There should be 6 fittings
Make sure those clamps/ fittings are water-tight as 1 might be loose and leaking or sucking air in!
