e46 M3 Bosch vs Valeo Starter

Hi guys

My car is a 2004 e46 M3 and has a valeo starter motor the earlier models came with a bosch starter motor anyone knows the difference between these 2 starters? My car just randomly doesnt start so the starter motor was taken out an tested but when tested is working 100% could it be the solenoid is faulty when its on the car as it jus makes a click when you turn the ignition? I cant seem to get parts to recon this starter and only agents have the starter but are expensive. Looking at getting the bosch motor but not sure if it will work .

My experience is that it is difficult to source Valeo parts for starters and alternators in SA. If you can they are hectically expensive. When I had my E46 I bought a new Bosch alternator for the price of the spares required for the Valeo that the car came with. Suggest you check the price of a Bosch starter at Diesel Electric
