E46 leaking front windscreen

Right so the monthly periods my car has is now a leaking windscreen.

When it rains or when i wash the car I find a few drops of water on the dashboard drivers side just above the air vent. Sometimes I also find water on the steering wheel. Sometimes it drips from the headliner and sometimes from the A pillar.

Research points toward sunroof drain. Before checking I went ahead and started stripping the headliner and removing A pillars. That gave me the opportunity to re-glue the fabric on the a pillars as that was starting to come loose.

I found the sunroof drains still secured properly. Then I took some water and poured down the drain channels and found no leaks, Then I decided to pour water down the windscreen starting from the top of the rubber weather strip. That's when it started showing its period. The rubber feels hard as constipation but surely the windscreen should have been glued down properly. Question is, will replacing the rubber solve the issue or does the windscreen need to be removed and glued down again? From the history the previous owner replaced the windscreen and paid R700 for it. I would figure at that price the technician probably cut corners and didn't do a quality install.

Do it through your insurance under the glass excess claim. Get them to change the windscreen, the rubber seal and the lower cowling (these get eaten with the sun).. The whole thing should only cost your glass excess amount, less than R1k.

Yeah the lower cowling is also perished. I wonder if insurance would cover it seeing that its just a leak. I think the glass excess is R500. Let me look into it.

Doubt they will do the cowl, but +1 for insurance route

Got mine replaced under the claim because the other one was perished.

Just chat to the PG/Glassfit centre and get them to recommend it on the insurance claim, due to it being badly damaged and causing water to get under it. Worth a shot, worked for me!
