if im not mistaken.. to fit OEM LED sets.. you'd need to change your LCM. there may be other wiring changes as well... but its not just a straight swap unfortunately. with standard LCM and LED's you will get strobing and other weird things happening.

those rear light sets can be opened with a dremel and then resealed afterward if you're careful
That can more than likely just be coded without changing the module.

You honestly can't complain about your lights failing. Yes it sucks. But you did fit "cheap" aftermarket lights. Hope you get the car sorted. Do you not have your stock lights you can fit in the interim.

Haven't had an issue with them for five years now, they may be aftermarket but I assumed these were durable given the cost. Been similar cases with OEM BMW LEDs as well, particularly on the LCI E90.

I still have my older set, the orange ones, but those look terrible to be honest. That would be a last resort.
The lcis LEDs do sometimes fail but they are repairable.

I suggest trying to separate the tail light and test the LEDs individually. Generally when one goes out a few won't work.

yeah, i'd try and open this if i were you.. because its either:

- a LED thats KO'd
- wiring thats loose or damaged
- the built in relay has failed

most of this is a cheap fix if you're willing to give it a go. the fact that it works sometimes could mean just a loose connection, or solder that needs to be reheated or something like that.

As said previously check the earth...before replacing

If the whole light is not working must be a power/earth problem

Just the indicator that's out, not the whole unit - earthing is fine.

O ok Sorry, but should be something small, check it out first see if there is any signs of cable burning or something.
Has it gone to auto electrician or just normal workshop?

mate.. heres a quick test for you. open the boot, turn the key on and put the indicator on. go to the back of the car then tap the back of the light housing and see if the indicator starts working. if it does, it should be a really small issue.

also, does the dash light up to say that a bulb is gone?
