I purchased a set of chrome grills from MR Arbee, but wanted the grills matt black.

i used this thread as my guideline for spraying them matt black.

the three cans of spray cost R120(grey primer, matt black and clear lacquer).

i sprayed my old grills for testing, and installed them togethter with the chrome fins. i'll first drive with them to see how they hold up with regards to chip marks.

before:(the grill was actually broken)

Looks good.

Have also painted mine with spraypaint out of a can, and it doesn't stand much of a chance against stone chips.

did the same to mine, and it really does make a difference

how's yours holding out with regards to chip marks?

Did mine about a year ago, and it still looks good, but having been using the car alot to be honest...guess you have to redo it yearly

thats why guys, you must use vinyl, it is cheaper and also, withstands stone chips and any blemishes on the grills, my car is proof of how strong it is. spraying si good but more expensive and higher maintenance, the vinyl (the one i use and the one Arbee is going to put on his car) is the thicker and longer lasting ones:thumbs:

Pm if you want to see how durable it is:thumbs:

I now buy matt black grills because the ones I've sprayed looked like the night sky after a month.:thumbdo:
Will never waste spray paint like that again...
