E46 final stage resistor

Does anyone know how to test the FSR for the interior fan? Like with a multimeter?

Here's why:
My 330d's fan stopped blowing. It has the digital control panel below the radio. Checked fuse ok, did some Googling and decided it was FSR.
Bought a new FSR, still not working. So I assumed it was a bad part and exchanged it, but the new one doesn't work either.

I get no fan on any blower setting
I get no fan when running actuator tests in diagnostics
I get full fan when shorting the spikes of the FSR to the steering column, which proves fuse, wires and motor are ok.

To me this says bad FSR, but could I really have 2 out of box failures?

I have had to replace the fsr twice on my X5 in about 18 months time. There is a lot written about replacing the fsr but on the last post someone on this forum suggested we check out the connection as a bad connection at the plug that fits onto the fsr will produce heat and that will badly affect the lifetime of the fsr. My advice, check out the plug and see if there isn't a loose wire/bad connection. I would also take a very small screw driver and slightly bend the female connectors to ensure a tight fit when connecting the plug. (On my E36 a bad connection at the plug was my main problem as after fitting a new fsr it still did not work but when i by accident wiggled the plug when fitted to the fsr the fan suddenly came to life - so check out the plug)!

If the conector shows sings of melting. Just replace it. Its gonna cost you +/- R50 for the plastic and 5 pins. If you need the Part numbers let me know
