Good evening gents, I mentioned yesterday an upcoming e46 coupe project I had on the back burner that I was slowly building up. Those plans changed dramatically today as Herman (wannav8gocart) contacted me with interest in building a special/unique e46 coupe that isn't a M3 or powered by a M3 engine. We tossed ideas back and forth and have come up with a plan to build a 330cd but with some choice mods and creature comforts. I have the coupe and I have the donor 330d ready so the initial build to diesel should progress rather quickly. The diesel mods will take more time as we have alot to experiment with but the idea of adding the sequential turbos and injectors off a E70 X5 3.0sd is on the cards. A custom intercooler will be fabricated as we need really low IATs seeing as we working with 19:1 compression on the stock M57N vs the 17:1 compession on the X5 3.0sd.

I bought this 2000 318i coupe auto from Mo CarCandy's sister last year with plans to build it up one day, I have spent a little time on it already so its already received some cool upgrades.
Pics from time of purchase.

Two weeks ago browsing FB marketplace I came across an accident damaged 2004 330d going for cheap so I went to check it out in Glen Ridge, struck a deal, eft'd the money and had Paul my flatbed guy come pick it up, that was a little challenging as the front right wheel was in the boot and we had no key to straighten the wheel. Hooray for the winch!

Home safe, on a dolly.

This is going to be an epic build!! I’d skip the sequential turbos and just go with a bigger single turbo. I’ve got a BMW magazine from overseas I must find, guy built an awesome E46 330d ci with some proper choice mods. Will find it and take some pics to send through to you with the relevant info, was a machine!

Alex from carthrottle (youtube) did a series where he builds a 330d touring to lap quicker than a e92 m3. It's because of that series why I built my own 330d touring. They upgraded their turbo but I would like to adapt the sequential turbos instead of the big single just to be different and learn along the way. I already have the turbos and manifold on my shelf.

Yes sir, this is set to be a crazy cool project. We have quite a bit of time and much experimentation to do, but in the end, she will be a tire smoking, oil burning, road and track monster.

Gizmo and my only conflict at this point is the look, where he is more in favor of the sleeper, but I'm seeking the look and potential to match. I guess we will meet somewhere in the middle, or not ????

What do you guys think, sleeper or poser?

G-man, please do share. I'm pretty sure what I need it to be, but some more options to confuse :tiptoe:  why not.

Hey Gizmo!

So glad you're back. You've done great work in the past and I hope to see even more excitement going forward! This build should be just as epic as your others!

CheerS!
