E46 BI-XENON PROJECTOR RETROFIT KIT

Hmmm I bought these from you, I tried to fit them into my E46 Reflector housing, the shroude is a bit too big :/ Is there some kind of tutorial that I need to follow?

I can get the projector into the housing very easily with no cutting etc, It's just the shroude thats a problem and the fact that the shroude is the wrong size for the projector too is also a bit of a problem, will need to glue it onto the projector which will be tricky business.

Please let me know if there is something that I am missing here, I have a 2004 E46 face lift with standard reflector housing.

Hey Buddy,

the kit should be a perfect fit with no glue needed. the shroud just clips onto the projector. if there is a loose fit then something is wrong. please measure the projector diameter where the shroud fits and the inner diameter of the shroud itself. tell me these dims and then i will check what happened.

sorry about that buddy.

Hey,

It definately doesn't fit :( I know what you mean about the clipping in because I bought these exact projectors for my bike they just came with different shroudes and they just clipped in. I will take measurements tonight and give them to you tomorrow, The projector itself is too small for the shroude so it's very loose inside :( And to Glue it will be quite a big mission :(

I tested the shroude with my old E39 stock projector and they clip directly onto that, but that projector is quite a bit bigger than the ones you supplied me with but unfortunately I only have one and its not a bi-xenon projector.

then i am sure my supplier messed up buddy. please tell me the projector diameter and i will make sure you get the correct shroud for it.

Howzit, as far as I can see the projectors diameter is 22cm, I am measuring this with a flexible measuring tape so hopefully thats the correct measurement.

The Diameter of the projector that this shroud fits is 25cm, I am measuring this from the E39 stock projector that has a very tight comfy fit in this shroud. (I just measured the inside diameter of the shroud itself and its a definate 25cm, which would be the reason for the very tight comfy fit of the E39 stock projector).

The Other problem with this Shoud is that it is too big for my light housing? I have a 2004 face lift 330d with the stock reflector lights. To get these shrouds to fit in there I will have to hack saw most of my stock reflector off But I will double check that this weekend again just to make sure, as I may just need to adjust the reflector housing to face up with the manual adjusters which might let me to minimal dremel work. But if your suppliar is able to to give the right size shroud that fits this projector and my reflector housing properly that would be preferable, or possibly we change the projectors themselves for the bigger projectors that fit these shrouds?

Please let me know, I dont mind sending back and paying a difference for the right stuff :) I would actually prefer bigger projectors as I had a look at the stock projectors of the E46 and they are quite a bit bigger.

Thanks, Let me know.

i will send you the correct shrouds for those projectors. you cannot install the bigger projectors on your stock headlights without alot of hacking.

22 or 25cm is a massive projector.

if it is a morimoto, the lense diameter is 2.5" (6.35cm) and the shroud "contact" area diameter will be about 7.5cm

22cm Radius is the exact same radius of the projectors I put in my bike lights and those lights are tiny :) if it was 22cm accross then it would be a massive projector, but 22cm radius is quite small in projector terms, they listed as mini projectors.

I think there may be some confusion here :/ I was measuring the radius of the part of the projector that fits into the shroude, the shroude has clips inside that the projector should clip into and hold, and at the moment there is about a 1cm gap between the shroud and the projector.

buddy, the term of the thing you measured to be 22cm is CIRCUMFERENCE. if you divide this by PI then you get RADIUS. the measurement was close enough for me to figure that the projector lens is 2.5"

actually you divide by PI, divide by 2 to get the radius :)

after all, the circumference of a cirle = pi x 2r

ok ok :) sorry my mistake, What I meant was from one side all the way around to the other side = 22cm hehe I don't remember all my geometry from school I was good at algebra and terrible at Geometry lol yet I turned out to be a 3d animator...

Cylinders and Spheres etc in the 3d program I use (Maya) is Measured as Radius. so I guess I just automatically jump to radius when im measuring something of that nature lol, sorry for the confusion guys.

you right.
the circumference of a cirle = pi x D

Well from my experience the light output out of a projector + halogen bulbs is really poor, worse than with normal reflector type lights.

were you using the right bulb for the projector? because the light spread from the bulb into the unit is very important...

Yup

Howzit, if you can assure me that they'll bolt straight into my X5's lights, I'll take them. I'll pay for the postage to me in Cape town as well.
PM me and lets see if we can get this show on the road. I like them.
Do they come complete with all that is required to let them work?

Cheers,
Bemused

hey buddy,

if you can assure me that you can take apart your headlight to put this projector in then i will assure you that the projector is 100% bolt on.
and you have to pay for postage anyways.
they come complete with everything but i dont think you will be able to strip your headlight like the E46 one.
