E46 330i vs E90 320i Sport

I would say go for the 330i, anything I will say further will just be my opinions, so the best you can do is go test-drive both and decide for yourself, in the end it is you that will have to drive the car.

Difficult choice buddy.

I also do high mileage (100km+) a day and to own a BMW is not a cheap vehicle for an everyday high mileage runner.

The 330i is the better 'engine' here and the E46 still looks lovely, but if you use your head, the E90 320i sportpack with MP would be a better option long term. Consider maybe an E90 325i if possible, I think its 160kw and the E46 330i is 170kw. You'll get a nice blend of power and new looks there:thumbs:

Reliability I think the 330i is the more bulletproof motor and maintenance overall will be cheaper on the E46, only servicing will be more expensive (6cyl vs 4cyl)

Drive both, write down pro's and cons, etc and make a decision.

No brainer here, the latter is dead as a doornail and doesnt have the same timeless shape the E46 is graced with.

Okay,

So I've tested the E90 320i today. Yes, it is a bit pap but surprisingly responsive at low revs. You really have to rev it up to get some momentum and with this, it is quite heavy on the juice. I kept my eye on the fuel consumption like a hawk.

I can live with the power, for now... but the fuel consumption is a bit heavy.

It needs to be a sixer... 3 liters of them.

Have you considered an E90 320d ??? More power than the 320i and newer than the e46 330i.

But the e90 is the way to go for my. Good looking car and has alot of status.
The only thing is if you buy a 330 e46. You know it has been to shit.

Rather spend the same amount and get a 325i exclusive beem. Thats my vote.

Have looked at the 320d but a bit skeptic on turbo and other replacement because my money can only buy once that have 100k or more on the clock...

Definitely go for an E46 and get a Motor Mend motor plan for only R275 per month. Very good policy - we've got one on each of our 4 E46's

R130,000 to R150,000, dependent on what i get for my current wheels. At the moment not looking good, thinking of finishing the payments on my current vehicle and keeping it. Will then buy the BM as a third car.
