E46 330i Oil Change

Hi Guys

Car is currently on 500km oil service. can i do the service or must i wait till the service light go on.

Never did this before so i am going to try do it and learn something in the process.lol

You can do oil change when ever you want.
No need to wait for the OBC to tel you when to change. I change oil every 5000-7000Km's. You can do 10000 or 15000. Your choice.
When you reset the OBC, it will start counting off again at 25000Km before the next service.

and if you have a FL e46 here's how to reset the service indicator

hold down the left instrument button,
- turn the ignition key to position 1 (radio)
- test screen appears,
- keep holding the left instrument button
- after 10 seconds or so, the word 'reset' will appear with oil service / inspection
- let go of the button and press & hold again
- 'reset' will start flashing
- release & press the left instrument button once more while 'reset' is flashing

You going to use synthetic oil? It lasts much longer, although not 25000km

The filter kit comes with all the oil seals plus a copper washer for the sump plug

Agreed with what they say. Reset the service indicator after oil change then after about 10k km start checking your oil for colour change when its to dark do a oil service again.

Get the filter kit from dealers can't remember the cost but it not that bad.

PS I use mobil 1 doesn't use any oil.

My car is over 200 000km. i visit my local supplier cause here is no autozone or Bmw garages. they about 200 - 250km away. according to they systems the oil they supply me with was Castrol Magnatec 10w-40 A3/B3 Part synthetic.

I want to swith over to a very good oil but because of the high mileage its kind of bothering me if its a good idea.

Any other option or is this oil okay.

i did a flush to get rid of the old oil and use this oil.Is this oil okay.?
