So i had a low mileage, well looked after 330i individual Auto with 19's for years and it went well....now i just gave my 330i 5 speed with 19's a go...has electric fan as opposed to viscous and has 3.15 diff i think....like 100 000 more km's on it....but the two cars feel very different....the manual is exciting and feels so eager....i was shocked at the difference wow

Drive a tuned manual version with the standard 17" wheels and then report back... :tiptoe:

i think with catless manifold and exhaust & tuned with 3.4 diff it must be magical.

Its not too bad with these mods :fencelook:, but as KPM mentioned above, heavy wheels do somewhat change the characteristics of how these feel on the road, id say 18s are perfect

the style 68s weigh in at 9.5kg (front) and 10kg (rear), wont be easy to find 19s that are weigh less, unless they the ltw race wheels or something expensive :tiptoe:

Yeah bud, coastal members

Completely agree, also drove an automatic 330i now...

Its horrible.
- Uses a lot more fuel for the same kind of trips. Up from 9.8L/100KM average on manual to 13.2 on automatic
- Automatic is lazy times 10. The manual is however you drive it. Lazy or very energetic, although still lazy vs turbo cars.

I had A manual E46 320d and an Auto e46 320d. Both Face lift versions.

They were insanely different cars to drive. The auto box on the E46 is worlds better than the 3 & 4 speed auto boxes of old, but still down right agricultural when compared to the auto boxes that are being made today.

Generally a Diesel is more enjoyable in auto, but I found it to be the most boring thing I have ever driven. My manual was a total blast to drive and I enjoyed every single day with that car.

My 330i is also a manual ;-)
