Hi guys I have a weird problem, my car recently started idling rough goes to 1200rpm and drops to 500 rpm. Seems to drive fine when revs go above that.

I have new cam sensors (bmw ones)
new intake boots
engine dont seem to makle any different noises

any help will do????

I would start by cleaning the ICV and MAF. And if it continues to misbehave, see what it does if you unplug the MAF. Aside from the idling issue, is there any other symptoms when driving?

If the car does this when you start it and it idles like that I can guarantee its your CCV pipes that has a hole in it.

Its all new ccv pipes and it was running fine for a while after the replacement of the ccv, thats why i thought it be the icv, ill give it a clean and check

Ok so if I disconnect the MAF plug the car idles much better, does that mean I need a new one or a clean, how do you clean those things??

If you unplug the MAF and the idle improves (less jumping) then I would start looking at that whole section from the air filter to the boot after the MAF and ensure that all is clean, no dust and check for possible cracks.

But we have a E46 330i and a E90 330i so this is very welcome as we might sit with the same problem some day

If you were based close to Pretoria west I would have checked it for you via diagnostics (errors that is)

I would first try and clean the MAF sensor with some good quality MAF cleaner. You need to thoroughly spray the cleaner over the hot wires within the MAF sensor and then allow to dry completely before refitting. There are a few good youtube vids that show this if you are not sure. I would as suggested also inspect the intake system after the MAF sensor to see if there are any leaks. Maybe give the ICV a clean too, and check the state of the throttle body which might be a bit dirty.
