Hi guys need some help on my Bmw 330i 2001 f/l ,since we bought the car last year i notice that there is pipe just hanging there not connected to anything,at first i thought it was a breather pipe but then found these pics and saw it is connected to something.

The part circled in orange is not there ,but the part circled in blue is there .

Any idea what the part circled in blue is ,where can i get it ,how much will it cost and is it important

<a href="http://s490.photobucket.com/albums/rr261/sycodad/?action=view&amp;current=edit.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i490.photobucket.com/albums/rr261/sycodad/edit.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Any help will be appreciated !

What I know is that's the part that recycles the air for even better co2 emitions control.
My car doesn't even have it at all... see picture:

I see that i wonder why the previous owner removed it ,would this affect performance

Strange that you even have the pipe, as the axillary air pump on the non-M's came on the US models where the emission laws are stricter (the e46 M3 did come with it this side however)

Can't think that it will cause any changes in performance.

Thanks Sank! cant understand why the pipe is there.
As long as it does not affect performance i am happy .I am hoping to find out more about this ,it is the first 330i that i have seen with it :bangdesk:

Mo,maybe that's why your car sounds like a bloody v8 :roflol: On a serious note that's really strange that the other guys don't have that piping or even know what it is..

Do me a favor and please check your back box as to whether or not it's a standard one as I suspect your car could have been modded especially now with this discovery. Maybe ask the guys to post picks of their back boxes and compare

Maybe also post a close up pic of the pipe on your car as well if you have time, find this really strange...

My guess is his is an imported 330i if that was fitted by the factory. Our SA models have a blanking plate on the side of the cylinder head were that pipe/valve fits to.

Are there any RHD country ones that came with the auxiliary air pump?

I am pretty sure your motor has been swopped previously.
Still, i would just plug that pipe and live with it
