E46 - 323ci vs 325ci

Hi Guys
I have been looking for a Toyota Corolla 180i anything (Kentucky Rounder as they are known)
And its either not in my budget or R55 000 + with like 300 000km +

So this brings me to my current situation.
My budget is about R45 000 - R50 000 max
This will be my daily , so all comes down to my questions:

323ci vs 325i
-Is there a huge diff in power between the 2
-Auto or manuel
-Common issues
-Risk

Buddy, you will be lucky to find a decent & clean one at R80k...or sometimes more.

2 members were selling their clean cars, one blue 325ci and one silver for prices a little higher than your budget, have a look at them and maybe think o upping the budget or waiting out on a few months or years.

Dont get yourself into a moneypit on impulse

The is a difference in power

The motor is the same....

ECU & Intake being the main differences....

As the guys said....with these cars...Cheap is Expensive

If I were you, I would take R20k of your budget and spend it on basic mods on your 320d, or 2.0T Jetta, and enjoy it. Then invest the rest.

You not going to get much in a decent condition in that budget in this day and age.

Hi Guys
The jetta is sold and my 320d is my family car that we use and is my wifes daily.
I see them going between R55 000 + , just thought would be a great buy for a daily on the ci.
The below are all over R55 000 and i'm sure most of them have been raped properly.
GOLF VR6
CIVIC / BALLADE VTEC
RXI / RSI 20V
180RSI CONQUEST

I cant even find a clean golf 4 Gti.
Coisman saved me with a black one that was advised for 55k.
car looked clean but the history, not so.:tiptoe:

GOLF VR6 - No, Parts are scarce and very difficult to find one in good nick
CIVIC / BALLADE VTEC - Tough as nails and very scarce that they break
RXI / RSI 20V - Same as the civic, only difference is these motors are meant to be driven hard to get some poke outta them
180RSI CONQUEST - Scarce but also reliable and tough as nails

I cant even find a clean golf 4 Gti.

I say find a clean body coupe with engine or gearbox troubles and get the car for cheap.
Throw in a M54B30/6spd and have yourself an awesome daily run around.
You can come across some bargain buys in the non runner sections, you can be burned too so you need a keen eye for the BS.

I had the 323ci, the difference is power although the engine is the same. It is more or less a detuned version of the previous 325i. It was more marketing to create a nice gap between the 328ci (not in SA) and the 323ci. When the 330ci was released, the 323ci was upgraded to the 325ci.

Everything else should be the same. There was a mid-life upgrade with the colourless indicators and LED tail lights - I would def. go for this version of the 325ci.

Mine came nicely kitted out with electric seats, camel leather, electric rear blinds. I really enjoyed the car - wouldn't mind getting another one for weekends.

I had mine until 145000kms, the only issues were;
1. AC control module
2. Wheel bearings
3. CD Shuttle

Everything else worked perfectly and I never had any other issues. It's a solid straight 6 engine. :cartel:
