Stripped intake manifold off my e46 320i to replace vacuum pipes etc and to check for other leaks when put back together she just won't start. Any help will be appreciated as next step is :bin:

Are all fuel lines connected correctly? maybe remove the inlet pipe to check if fuel is pumping (use a clean bottle to collect and avoid spillage) - not sure if it can be done on the bm, did it on a Conquest - same principle though

Are cables plugged in correctly if any?

Did you check all fuses? maybe one popped?

Can you hear your fuel pump run when you switch on the ignition?

Then try a stronger battery. I had an issue on my e36 and after two weeks of searching I tried a brand new big a$$ battery and she fired right up. Remember swinging a starter draws a lot of current from the battery and can deplete it quickly.
Worth a try. You've got nothing to lose. Keep us posted

Also check all earth straps

Feedback.
After exhausting all avenues and doing a compression test ended up stripping motor. Found intake cam to be a tooth in retard that could be the cause of all my problems from day 1 with this car...laziness, flat spot etc. going to put rings and bearings anyway while it is open see what happens then. will post again when assembled

Does anyone know that if your ignition is on and you push accelerator down will your throttle body respond by opening the butterfly. Taking note the car has not started but ignition is on

Which model is the car?

I doubt it if my car will do it, because mine is the 2002 f/l model so there is no cable physically linking the pedal to the throttle body as with the M52 engine where the throttle body was still operated with a cable. Anyone, please correct me on this if I am wrong: With the M54 the throttle body only responds to input from the pedal once the car has started?

e46 2004 320i M54 . Thanks you are correct. It opens once you start cranking it. Seems I have a fuel problem. Fuel is there but not enough pressure. Thats all I can think of now

Have you changed the fuel filter yet? My car bogged down at +/- 4000 rpm in third before I replaced it, now it revs smoothly through all the gears.

Replaced fuel filter and eventually got it started again with a hell of a missfire. Got it on the reader 3 coils dead. got others started ran fine then after 20mins started to misfire again. :smashScreen::smashScreen::smashScreen:
