Hey Guys,

I am curently looking at a diesel for travelling between JHB and PTA each day and was wondering, what would in your opinion be a better purchase?

The Facelift E46 320d or the Pre Lci E90 320d?

Did the Pre Lci E90 also suffer from the infamous swirlflaps problem?
I would really like a E90 Pre Lci Msport:rollsmile:

I really need input one this one guys.

i have seen some e46 320d's getting better consumption than the e90's and the e46 m-sport still looks great for its age.

In other words, both are great, make sure you get one in decent shape and serviced regularly etc.

Prices are similar in terms of service, the filters on the E90 are slightly more expensive than the E46. I would look for an E46 330d facelift in Msport trim  the bigger 6 cylinders love the open road and not to mention the extra grunt they have for those yeeeeah times :crazylaugh:

well I would say both are a tough choice but after some small mods, the pre-facelift will give you some good smiles :praise:

I'd definitely go for the E90 - unless you're saving yourself a fair amount of money

E90 seems to be a more reliable car than the E46. The E46 has turbo issues which were sorted on the E90, get one with an automatic box as the clutch on a manual usually goes at around 200k. E46 looks more appealing though, but whichever you decide on ,get one that was well taken care of as these modern diesels need some TLC

I can't agree with the autobox comment, because of sheer driving pleasure.
So, you may have to replace a clutch from time to time (waaaay sooner than 200k ;) but you get to drive the car, esp the 6cyl...
If its for the look, get the M-sport e90.
If for the engine, the e46 330d.
The older brunette or the lively blonde....?

You gonna have to service an Auto box before 200k anyway. Just the oil in the Auto boxes cost what a clutch costs :roflol:

Is it an Auto box Alex? What oil did you use? I was quoted almost R5000 for the oil and filter for my E46 auto box from BMW just last week !
