Good Day !

Been reading up a bit here on the site and have found it very useful.
My old lady (e46 320d M47n) has recently started cutting out on me after I start her again once she has warmed up a bit. Form a cold start seems to be no problem. Starts off with rough idling and then even cutting out on me and then only restarting after a few attempts.
Anyway I have changed the cam sensor and problem still persists so guessing its the crankshaft sensor. Looking at giving it a go myself. So my question, where is the sensor located and is it a job a non mechanic like myself can give a go ?

Thank you !

hi

No guessing... get her Scanned for errors ...
Throwing parts at the problem can get very expensive

Thank you for the advice !

I have taken her in to get diagnosed - Mechanic called and mentioned the fuel rail pressure sensor. He will try and test it tomorrow with a working sensor.

Update....car has been with a diesel specialist in Pinetown. Charged R750. Drove it back to work, working no issues. 3 hours later (engine still warm) driving home it starts it nonsense again of wanting to cut out, stalling and cutting out (trying my best to explain it). Cold start she works fine. Guys said couldn’t pick up any faults only egr which is blanked. Diagnostics and cleaning sensor connectors with carb cleaner. Like I said previously picked up fuel pressure rail but checked that and seems fine.
I’m assuming when he tested the car it was on a cold start. Running out of my sense of humour.

Right I got myself INPA running and decided to diagnose the car myself.
Got the usual glow plug error and EGR error coz I blocked it of.
Also got this error :

Does this ring a bell to any of you fanatics ?
