Hi there, welcome to the forum.

You will need to be more specific about the car and the problem before we can help.

Which engine is in the car?

A no start situation in petrol engines has only two causes: lack of fuel or lack of spark. No fuel = empty fuel tank, faulty fuel pump or relay, blocked fuel filter, faulty fuel pressure regulator, etc. No spark = faulty coil packs, faulty crank position sensor, faulty DME/relay, too many others to mention.

Without the ability to do some basic diagnosis, it is very difficult to pinpoint the problem. Best you get the car to a reputable workshop to diagnose the cause of the problem.

If you would disclose your locations, other members can recommend reputable workshops that won't rip you off just because you are female. They generally rip everybody off equally and don't discriminate on gender.

an intro thread would have helped in distinguishing your car and have more info on the problem.

sorry for not coming back in time, its a 2004 model. 320d

I am based in Benoni Johannesburg, I already lost over R12k, to two guys already and the problem didn't go away. They both told me is diesel pump, they replaced it and still problem didn't go away.

the third guy has told me its injectors and wants something like R20k,

I now wish to find someone who can teach me about cars, coz I've heard it and don't know what do believe.

Nkuli, I know you are a bit disappointed in the E46 BMW right now, but how about some pics in the "intro" section?

Spend R800 and do a full diagnostic at bmw they will tell you all the faults with your car then try to fix it stop throwing money at people guessing what the problem is see if that helps

Contact Gizmo(click) on the forum he will sort you.

Send him a pm, he is our e46 & e36 magician.

Not for diesel....

What if it is an ignition problem and not a engine problem?

Either way I am sure he will be able to point you in the right direction.

If he(Gizmo) can't, Google Ross Duncan Auto, he is based in Midrand(bit far for you). If I can't do the work on my car myself, he does it.

You can tell him I told you contact him.

Glad you getting sorted, I was going to call my mechanic and ask him if he is not willing to travel from Hazyview to Benoni to come and help you - I have known him for three years now and he mainly works on BMW's, also on the E46 320d's like yours, and for the skill and knowledge he has, he is VERY reasonable.
