Nice healthy debate on the forum :)

Iceman, would be nice if you can invite the owner to the forum....
I'm sure hearing his response to all these questions would give us all closure :)

Any reason as to why the car hasnt been driven?

Because of my love of Colt's I own 4 of them that I have collected over the years.
I own a 1979 Galant 2000GLX chrome bumper, A 1982 Galant 2.6 and another 1980 2litre that I drive more often.
All of them in original mint condition.

I also own a 1984 Bmw 323I E30 coupe with 138 000km on the clock also in showroom condition.
My aim is to enter the Bee Em for the concourse this year.

Because the Colt with 24 000km is so original I don't want to drive it because once you start driving it it will need the normal maintenance and you will have to start replacing things due to normal wear and tear.
I want to keep it like it came from the factory as long as I can, untouched.
If I want to drive a Colt I get into one of the other ones I own.

I also have a lot of interest in the Colt's from the Mitsubishi collectors in Australia and Malaysia.

My dad had 1 like this in maroon, A pre face auto like this (it had the round lights in front) as well as a 2 door colt. He says the best car he owned was a Rambler hornet. I will scan a pic of it when I go to his place. He has a pic of it with 3 yr old me sitting on the bonnet of the Rambler.

Its actually worse.,. cos the hot model would be left at home in front of the tv, while you are out saying i have a hot model at home.... you only take her out of the house once a month, just so that people know she is still alive and does exist.

I know it's not a BMW.......
A friend of mine recently bought this original unrestored Peugeot 404, I think it is a 1972 model with 20 000km on the clock.

Hi guys, pity I didn't take pics of this car,

In 2011 I visited a supplier of mine in Cape Town while on holiday. He was a elderly gentleman.

He had a 2006 Toyota Corrolla 160GLE. The mileage, 657kms to be exact. He lived in Constansia and only used the car once a week to go down the road (2kms) to do a bit of shopping and to go the bank.

Couldnt believe it at first but after inspecting the car, under carriage the works, I was in total awe even tho it wasn't a classic he was just amazing see a car with mileage.

Not sure if he still has the car as we have lost contact.

Cheers....

Guys, speaking of low mileage cars, I can buy this Honda, with only 30 000km on the clock, the guy says there's a service history, 1983 model, a uncle or something of him's car that died a while back. I'm going to check it out this weekend.
According to the pics the guy sent me, the body is not perfect. Little rust here and there.
Thinking.............

The interior looks perfect from what I can see, but its the body that concerns me, but on the other end, what do you buy for R16 000.
What do you guys think?

I had one of these, was my first car,was also an 83,red.Luckily I have no evidence of its existence. Can't believe I am even admitting that here! And also the worst car I have ever come across in my life. Those odometers only went to 99,999kms,so when it got to 100,000kms,it reset to zero. Just be sure to check it hasn't turned over (not sure how you can tell though!)
Anyways,I don't want to put you off. If the car checks out and you're happy, you got nothing to lose (well except R16k!):fencelook::roflol:

As for the 330i,I marvel at the fact it only has that mileage on it.Maybe when he bought it the intention WAS to use it as a daily and his circumstances changed? We all know how quickly brand new cars devalue so he probably thought ag well let me keep it,with the intention of selling it after paying it off,and then keeping the ZAR from the sale thereafter.Guess only he knows.

My uncle had a sky blue Colt Gallant, a 1980 model if I am not mistake,he drove it for years without it giving him a day's issue. He eventually sold it when he bought a Jag e-Type. Solid cars those Colts!

Oh,and I also recognise that ramp! Those guys were awesome last week when I had to get my tyre sorted out with them! Leoni in parts was brilliant!

No matter wat was at stake personally I would never be able to resist "driving" a 330i...one of the best sounding exhaust notes ever......(I MEAN EVER)

Would love to have the owner on the forum....just for sharing his logic behind this lack of mileage

:bravo:
