E39 wiper blades

Why are E39 wiperblades so damn expensive? The rubbers alone are R400 odd for the set. Complete blades will come in at under R1k. Bosch agents don't have and not available at Midas!

Can they be bought anywere besides BMW?

I need blades for my E39 as well, but R400 is insane, never mind 1K for the full thing

On my C class merc I just bought the whole wiper (Uses only one and it's huge and complicated fancy thing) genuine Bosch from the agents R179

Are BMW loosing the plot here with prices that they can't justify, what get's me is what they charge for safety related items. Most manufacturers keep the prices of safety items down even if they have to subsidise them.

Try Durablade, they do work till they get dirty with diesel oil etc, but as long as you take the effort to clean them with thinners once a month they actually can last forever.

I am going to try the durablades first and then I'll let you know. Rick is right - you get the normal and large durablades.

I picked up the longer durablades from Autozone today - they were on order. R160 for the pair, better than R420 from BMW.

i also have put on the durablades. Works great so far.

Easy DIY

level 2 maybe 3. Pliers cutters and maybe flat head screwdriver needed.

Mine went in for a service on Friday.

Local BMW agents quoted me R 423.62 for the wiper blade rubbers, and charged me R1,144.82 to replace the micro filter.

Also found, quote "Crank vent & pipes & MAP cooling faulty", end quote. Quote to repair? R 5,217.12 for parts, and R 2,592.46 labour. Total quote = R 7,809.58. I declined :)

Bloody agents!

Have you tried Goldwagen? Just a thought, as they are also starting to stock BMW now.

Durablades are working well for me. I took the wiper arms off at the same time to spray them black and give them a fresh look.

just remember with the durablades, you must turn the wipers on and let the blades wipe the dry glass about 100 times to bed in properly.

Hey bud, think you are mistaken,

on the new cars (premium) the wiper blades are all crazy pricey..

Renault megane/scenic/clio etc etc R900

Seat Leon R800
Seat Ibiza R650

etc etc
