e39 vibration

Hi there
So there is a bit of a vibration at certain speeds that i have no idea where to look for. The car has 160k kms on got wheel balancing allround last week and 2 new tires. Vibration was there before and now after.

It basically is there at just below 60km/h and then again at around 110km/h. other than that it is not really noticeable. so far I could not figure out from back or front.

How long does the rubber between die gearbox and driveshaft last? could this cause it?

Any other ideas?

It could be the guibo (flex disc between driveshaft and GB). It could also be a misalignment of the gearbox and driveshaft. Is it more pronounced when braking? If so, it is control arm bushes and possibly other suspension parts. If not, it can also be a wheel bearing... Which tyres did you replace?

When last did you check your tyres? Worn tyres cause all sorts of vibrations.

Balancing can be tricky and the machine could be out, watch out for that, try find a shop with a recently calibrated fully digital one.

I have been taking my cars to AutoQuip tygervalley for sometime now that never had a problem. I saw twinz also there the morning i was there.

Is there an alternative for bushings other than agents?

The E39 is majorly sensitive to tires/rims being out of round, I replaced my control arm bushings for nothing trying to cure a similar vibration.

Turns out the tyre/rims are about 2mm out of round, so now I just live with it, dosent always show up, only occasionaly.

You can try imcomex for meyle/HD bushings. make sure they will send you the HD bushings. Their service really sucks, though.

Goldwagen also has bushes, but I do not know what quality...

+1 for what rick said.

if it is aftermarket check if there are spigot rings on

Get the front-end up on jack stands, then look at the bush while someone moves the wheel so that you can see which parts have play. If they have not been replaced, I can guarantee that they need replacing. It's a good idea to check all the bolts and torque them.

my front tyres were "out-of-round", lived with the vibration until a few months ago, replaced both front tyres and vibration was gone

Out of round is quite a common problem - lousy QC at the tire factories

ok so last night i crawled under the car.
While my dad pulled on the wheel there was a little bit movement but very very little.
Then I twist on the thrust arm with one hand. This normal or does is mean needs replace?(sorry for not so great vid, hard to hold cam and move thrust arm)

I'm not 100% sure I know what you took a picture of. Is that the lower control arm? You will probably be replacing it at some point, but the parts are quite expensive, like >2k5 at agents.
