e39 mtech bumpers

Very hard to get hold of. There is a plethora of plastic parts that need to be swapped - all the brake ducting etc. Well, that is what I understand from one of rick540's posts. He has done it before, so probably best to get his input. But it is very difficult to get the plastic bumpers, there are quite a few options for fiberglass aftermarket ones, but that is not really an option IMO.

Don't have to much knowledge about the e39 m-tech bumpers, but if they are anything like the e46 M-tech bumpers then you will have to replace almost everything as almost nothing is the same as on the normal bumper, not to mention how rare they are, even more so than the e46 ones and they already a mission to find.

These things do come into scrapyards, most things that you never find (except the older stuff) does move, but is swooped up so quickly by guys that have a relationship with a panel beater.
When an E39 m5 comes in, that motor/gearbox bla bla is sold before it even gets offloaded from the truck...

They sell you a bumper M kit for 14K and you think oh cool, not too bad.
I fell into this trap with my previous E39
This conveniently misses the other 14K parts - Paint, fogs, lower grill, under tray, front radiator lower shroud, brake ducting, fender liners, Lower triangle plastic covers, bumper brackets, bumper rubbers, matching side rubbers, fog light connectors, alternator vent ducting and the list goes on.
It is possible to cut what is already there but this makes for a really K@K upgrade as you basically have to butcher the Hell out of the car, you may as well fit a Honda bumper easier.
Do what I did to mine - ask for the BMW E39 "Aerodynamic package", made by Zender and it clips on to the existing bumpers, looks awesome and not too pricey
