My E39 pre-facelift front lights look terrible! The guys on the charity run can vouch for that!

What can I expect to pay for E39 facelift (angel eye) lights and the newer rear lights?

Also, what is a reasonable price to pay for a facelift bumper, complete.

Used, not new for all the above parts?

Thanks!

Around R7k for a headlight IIRC.

A bumper is expensive. I assume you mean a M-Tech bumper, since the facelift looks the same but with color coded beadings? They are impossible to find for an affordable price, plus you need to change most of the plastic covers and ducts at the front of the car - becomes VERY expensive quickly, since these are only available at the dealer, unless you would settle for a fiber glass copy. (you'll be sorry if you settle for a fiber glass copy)

Did you perform a facelift on your car? Or do you have FL?

I have a facelift, but not an M-Tech. I did however sand and polish my headlights, made a world of difference, took around 4 hours in total (if properly done). You can find guides all over the internet.

Rick540 did an M-tech conversion on one of his 540i's. The cost involved was a scary amount, so I prefer not to remember it  .

What it boils down to is: if you want your car to look like an M-Tech/Facelift, the cheapest route, by a country mile, is to sell the one you have, and buy the one you want.

You can pick up 2nd hand lenses for around R600 each.

I saw clear headlights for pre facelift e39's at M1 auto spares yesterday. Looked like new lights (Depo aftermarket possibly). Didn't ask the price though.

Hi Guys,

Here is the sad looking front end of my car!

100_2883.jpg

I have had the lights done twice already but they fade again after a few weeks.
The present bumper is pre 2001.

I would like to replace the lights and bumper with these, 2001+ facelift.

My car looks like this at the moment:

If you want OEM Angel Eye headlights/ Taillights, phone Hella Automotive SA. I bought a year+ ago from them. Was R2850 ex vat for a non-xenon headlight unit. You may need to do some connector swapping if you have the old lights...no biggie.

I can't believe I got those 'angel eye' lights so quickly! And, a set of facelift rear lights as well! They are brighter than the old ones.

Now, I don't have a clue about changing the connectors! :nonono:

Is there someone on the forum near Pretoria who can do this for me (please pm me a quote/address), or advise me what connectors to buy/where please?

I think the rear needs a connector change as well!

Joining this forum is the best thing I have done in a long time - as I mentioned in my first post! I'm finally getting my car in order!

Thanks guys!
