How do can you tell?

TU engine with vanos has more "rounded" valve covers and the non vanos engine has an aluminum throttle housing

Without Vanos

Sorry, is that 2 oil caps on the motor :dropjaw:

:roflol:

The one is a battery outlet thing to provide current if you need it, seeing as the battery is in the boot.

It requires 2 oil changes at a time:roflol:

Pour it in on the one side, drain, and re fill on the other side.

It actually has two drain plugs on the sump.

You have to fill the two halves of the engine with exactly the same amount of oil else you will damage the engine.

*The left is actually the filler cap the right is the remote battery terminal*

You can turn the dipstick in the tube to give an oil level reading for either side of the engine.

No you cant.

Everybody knows the dipstick is one sided only, and if you turn it, it will obscure the reading from the other side

This car looks so clean.

It was advertised previously for R 125 000.00.

So clearly the seller has knocked off a lot of his asking price :crazylaugh:

Oh how I wish

I'm sorry but I cannot agree with that, maybe on the 'merican V8's you're use to they cut costs by only using single sided dipsticks, but this is a no expenses spared German V8 right out of the heart of Bavaria and I can assure you it comes with a dipstick with the full assortment of sides.

You are correct sir. I own a Vanos 540i, and can confirm that the dipstick does indeed come with full complement of sides. 3 to be exact.

He wants far too much for it, that's why.

Great condition though.

What should this car be going for Chef?

A lot less than that, even though it has low mileage.

It's pre-facelift, it's an old V8 gas guzzler, it doesn't have all the optional extras, it's not sport pack, it's not manual...

I suppose a collector might pay that much.
