Hello guys, been a while since i've posted. i'm having to replace the rear shocks on the touring rather soon but cant seem to find them anywhere besides the dealers. The thought of having to fork out around 5k+ per shock is leaving a rather bitter taste in the mouth. Does anyone perhaps know where else i could try for a set of these shocks? I've spoken to a company called GT shocks in Rondebosch. its run by a guy called Ian Glass. H builds shock for track applications but is also able to rebuilt shocks. Anybody made use of his services? Your input as always is always appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Clint,

I haven't personally met Ian Glass or seen his work, but have heard his name around. I can get you coilovers if you're interested. My email address is [email protected]. I am available on Whatsapp (0799388998) and BBM (25B4EFA5). The brands i can get are Maxtrac, BC and Cobra.

touring is a bit tricky as the rear is different to the sedan this makes it a low volume item :( so no Koni STR.T available this is what I would normally recommend as they are a very cost effective upgrade

can get Koni Sport rears these have highly redefined Valving as well as dampening adjustment

R 2225 each
shipped to CPT

for the fronts when the time comes you can go with the STR.T they only R 1840 each

My dad bought 4x new 525i touring rear shocks from the agents 2 weeks ago @ R3700 each, not R5k+ btw.

Just realised my dad got standard shocks, the OP was referring to Sportpack shocks. There are in fact 3 different rear shocks for the e39 touring, best to order via VIN number to get the right thing.

@Gizmo, i may have failed to add one important piece of info. The car has the Mtech sport suspension with self levelling. these are not the standard shocks fitted to the normal e39 touring wagons. Hence my problem finding them. the normal touring shock scan be found at HiQ and everywhere else. the moment you mention that it has the air bellow in front of it the prices go through the roof. The OEM one from BMW costs R3700 each and the one for the Mtech setup with SLS costs R5K+

Yes I realised that, hence my previous post, but you cannot get rear touring shocks at HiQ or any other shocks and tyre fitment place, my dad tried that avenue first but every place he tried would bring him sedan rear shocks, hence his trip to the agents.

Gees guys why the negativity on Koni dampers? they are better than OEM in every way even ride better...

they sure as hell better than the dampers you get from a tire shop Tire shop does NOT sell OEM...

for the self leveling I can get Bilstein B4 price list is not fixed so PM me if you interested
