Wsup,

Over the last week and a half or so I've been busy with a cooling system overhaul, and suspension maintenance. So far on the suspension side I've done the following;

*Replaced all front ball-joints (x4)
*Lower control-arm bushes
*Front brake pads
*Continental SC3 all round (new)
*Rack ends + tie rods
*Shocks (OEM in front,Gabrielle at rear)
*Rear wheel bearings
*Rear trailing arm bushes
*Wheel alignment

This has eliminated 98% of all vibrations/noises,but I'm not happy with the steering feel about the mid-point. Turn-in isn't crisp and you can feel the weight transfer on change of direction. Cross wind stability is also not too good, the car seems to wander.

Is there anything else that can be checked? I'd like to pin-point this before I fit an H&R lowering kit that might mask a very real problem.

Cheers

Heya,

I need to sort some of those above mentioned issues you've had. Could you recommend to me, where you took your beamer?

Thanks

Sclass: I have the same problem with my 328i even though i have replaced the ball joints, control arm bushes and tie rods and its also lowered. The midpoint is a bit numb, and it also wanders. But the handling through the corners is rock solid, so i have just learned to live with it. Sometimes being a perfectionist will leave you bankrupt!

As raybimmer said, the e36 was known for its tendency to wander and also for the slightly numb steering feel

Hey,

As discussed with Sclass,

I need to sort some of those above mentioned issues you've had. Could you recommend to me, where you took your beamer?

Thanks

Steering Shudder and feedback is extremely bad on uneven roads and surfaces

Have that exact problem...any recommendations?

Space86@ Ma man, I bought MOST of those things from the stealers...the ball-joints I had pressfitted to the old control-arms and then one of them broke on me 2 weeks later...so I won't recommend that to you. I've since bought 2 NEW control-arms (they come pre-fitted with the ball-joints) FROM THE STEALERS...expensive BUT for peace of mind and safety very worth it...to each his own though :fencelook:

I buy from the stealers but I have my mechanic fit the parts for me, maybe others can recommend a place for you. Where are you located?
