E36 Self service?

Hi

My "new" '96 316i is comming up to its 115 000km service and I was wondering how easy these cars are to service oneself (basic service in terms of oil, filter, plugs etc).

My previous car (a '90 Jetta) I serviced myself - does one need any special tools?

I was also wondering, how would one reset the digital display showing when the next service is due....

Many thanks!

Oil = Simple, Plugs = Simple, Air filter= simple, oil filter = Simple but messy.

Just dont ask Jeff to help you with anything to do with your exhaust :p

use this as a guide: E36 DIY

resetting the service lights is easy peasy, u simply ground some pins:
