GoodLuck with the rebuild Kug's, keep us updated :)

:ty: Will do.Any idea what management system i can use on the 650 engine i was having a look at the dictator pro and saw that it can handle the v8 engine but i dont want to invest in one without being 100% sure its going to work and the smg box is going to be another issue as i also dont have the box for that but that doesnt seem too complex as i managed to get a wiring diagram for the box and i put power tru the box and managed too run tru the gears

Your oil temp get to 150?

No mine would be around 100-110 on a hot day, but im sure when u doing track it will go higher.
Castrol edge should be good for temps around 110-120deg
but thats cutting it to close imo, hence recommended is edge sport which should be good for higher temps.

I know with the wrong oil if the oil temp gets to high u can and prob will run bearings as the oil can no longer provide enough protection.

Point is he has no oil cooler so his oil temps will be higher than ours right?

If I recall user manual says if you get to 130 then chill out

Definitely, and to my knowledge if u are running a 5-40 oil at this point that reading can be followed by the dreaded rumbling sound.

:joy: I bought the oil cooler with pipes and fittings also new waterpump is at the stealers :praise: after 3 weeks they rip us off with the prices and still make us wait for the parts still waiting for the oil pump though so block has to just sit there until the pump comes.

THE OLD CLUTCH PLATE :nonono:

:ty: 1st i had to scrap the orignal crankshaft as it was warn out past 30thou and rebuilding it was a :nonono: getting a replacement was a mission as the guys that had them wanted ridiculous prices 4 it but i managed to source a std 1 for 5gs which was resonable compared. The num 5 rod was also shot and i cracked a piston when takin it out of block so i replaced a piston and rod (brand new frm stealers) i bought a set of big ends mains and rings also from stealers that was R8600 i replaced oil pump that was R5400 but learnt after start up that you can buy just the gears for the pump frm bmw for R750  I also replaced waterpump that came to R6100 the clutch kit i used was sachs R3500 bmw wanted R5600 for the orignal which looks exactly the same as the sachs just that it has the bmw stamp on it. I also resleeved the block brought it back to std that costed R1500 with ae sleeves. Replaced gearbox crossmember R450 bmw scrapyard wanted R950 for a 2nd hand 1 :tease: Shims are a bit noisy going to them off tommorow and send to engineer if they need replacing i will have to do it

 hi guys was driving car last week Fri on n2 doin 80ks at 2500rpm when a loud sound came from engine and engine stalled  I pulled over and tried to restart but engine was locked. Towed car hm removed tappet cover cams n chain was 100s , so I removed head and no1 cylinder all 4 valves knocked piston and bent , piston is fine sent head back to engineer 4 report he claims "I over revved the car"I never revved past 3500 since start up. Anyone has any idea what could have caused the valves to drop I only did 215 km of mileage on the new engine.....
