Take it to Peter to check if it's something that can be easily sorted. Find a car this clean is not that easy.

It looks like a nice example, but any 2nd hand car will have its issues - especially one this old with high mileage.

The car looks good, so first find out if it can be repaired. I have to agree with other comments here, good condition E36 M3's are getting very scarce now.
 
I agree and would love to keep the car
The seller prefers that I return the car so he can sort it out with his mech who he paid for doing the vanos
I understand his point as well
 
Took the car to my mechanic who listened to the vanos and said the vibration can be felt on the top of the vanos
He also said that it could be the timing chain.
