e36 M3 Rev

Hi Guys,

I need some help,

My e36 M4 94 – 2 Door,

My idle is fine, but I have a problem with my rev sometimes
For example,
When I’m in neutral and push first gear, move slightly forward and push my clutch in again the revs shoots up to about 1000rpm, sits there for a few seconds then drops to normal,

This does not happen all the time though,

I noticed this when I was pulling up to Robots or stopping
Then tested it in my yard,

Same with reverse,

Cleaned the MAF, cleaned the ICV

What could it be and what do I look for next??

Vacuum Leak?

Thanks guys! Please help

Try pressing the plate where the cruise control and throttle cable attach. When you release it does it close all the way or if you push it can it close a little more? Also check the rubbers of those cables, sometimes they break and catch on that plate

I have a dumb suggestion but this dumb thing happened to me. Is your car mat not jamming the accelerator pedal slightly at times. :flyfun:

On M3 the TPS (throttle position sensor) sits on the end of the throttle linkage shaft infront of motor. If it is causing issues it will throw a fault code.

Have car read as it will cause the symptons you described.
