E36 M3 help

Howzit guys

A bit of an odd issue. A buddy of mine is interested in buying an E36 M3 1995 model coupe however when we ran the vin on real oem it picks up An E36 318i 4 door.

Vin: abmbf9208pna00056

engine: 60080888

Reg: CPZ 050 Gp

Any ideas or can anyone confirm what might have gone wrong lol? :hammerhead:

Is that the vin on the car? Close to the windscreen cowling?

I also ran the vin and got this:

Give the VIN to someone at BMW and request info.

Stolen car, good thing u checked the vin first.

Criminals have cut out the m3 vin and welded in a 316i vin. A rather common practice in SA.

 

[LOW BOOST]

Go to the nearest saps pound. Let them run the vin. They will give you all the info you require, from vehicle ownership information, to vin validation.

Havent checked the reg papers but the chassis and the licence disc have the above vin
