E36 M3 3.2 vanos issues

Howzit guys,

My car is down on power. I haven't been using it much for the last 3 or 4 years. Probably did 1000kms at most. over the past few months I can definitely feel somethings not right. The car is just not pulling through the rev range as it should on WOT. I know when switching the car off in the past you could hear like a pressure release sound from the vanos. It doesn't do this anymore.

I'm looking for recommendations for someone who can have a look at it for me. Someone that really knows these cars.

Thanks

So just something to consider

-Fuel pump
-Fuel filter

These 2 items resulted it the above mentioned issues on a car that I worked on before which was also driven like once or twice a year for a few years

Hi,

When last did you check the little filter on the actual Vanos unit?
Its often overlooked, when i redid my seals i didn't realise it was even there.

Replacing the seals is definitely a DIY job.

How ever setting them, or making sure it isnt a deeper issue you can visit Peter, or if its closer Shaun at TuneTech corrected my Vanos.

The fuel pump was replaced around 2013. I will definitely change the fuel filter and take it from there.

The solenoid seals were done in 2012 at the same time the filters were cleaned.

Thinking about it now just the other day the car started on the turn. But I soon switched it off again and tried to restart, but the car was just swinging and didn't want to start. It was trying to fire while swinging but didn't want to start. Only after about 5 to 6 cranks then it started. Its never done that before. Hopefully its just a dirty fuel filter.
