E36 key fob not working

Hi all

Hope someone can help me out on this one, the key fob for an E36 316i just stopped working. It's the key with three buttons. When I press the unlock or interior lights buttons the LED flashes slowly twice and then continues to flash rapidly. This is the same as with another working key fob. However, when pressing the lock button the LED only flashes once. None of the buttons works. I have tried a new battery.

I don't know if it's a coincidence but our gate's remote control would not function and when I switched off the car the key fob wouldn't work any more.

Could someone provide me with instructions to reset/pair the fob with the car, please?

Thanks

Thanks, it worked!

I've tried other instructions that involved opening and closing the door and boot, standing on your head etc. without success...

To clarify, only turn the key one click (the accessory position) and not to the "on" position.

The odometer (and airbag light) must come on. If the rest of the lights come on it's one click too far.
