So i was told that the ticking noise (sounds like tapet noise) coming from the motor (on idle) has something to do with the hydrolic lifters, is there any way of quieting it down? sounds really rowdy.
thnx

We had a similar noise, was told it was the hydrolic lifters & that when they get really bad & Annoying we would just need to replace them... then at 88K Km the engine seized up.. so it was not the lifters but the engine was not getting enough oil to the top end...

Noisy on startup or when cold ? Does it go away when hot ? I have used HX7 shell ( 15w40 ? ) and found the noise nearly gone , back to a 20w-50 and it can be heard a bit . Maybe an engine flush and an oil change will help . Unfortunately we can't take tappet cover off and listen for culprit !!

I have the same issue, but its a slight sound in the mornings only. I was told its related to the chain belt tensioner.....that needs to be tightened.

most likely it is your lifters...but check the oil pump first, as this will give you the similar sounding problem to your lifters...fyi, lifters are about R200 each, and you need 24 of them bastards.

good luck, feed back once the problem is identified would be appreciated
