This problem been going on for quite some time now & its irritating me :argh:

Put key in ignition, turn till the lights come on and twist to start and it cuts out (everything just goes dead).... I than have to go & play with positive battery terminal till the boot light goes on and try and start it again. I must repeat this process like several times before the car eventually starts.

At first I thought it was the battery causing this, so I had the battery replaced but problem still persists. When it cuts out at first, I get a foul smell from the battery..... is that a sign of a short or could this be a faulty terminal or is the alternator on its way out ?

Eish bra, have that looked at ASAP dont want blow your computer box. Although if you say its going on for some time now it might not be very serious but take precaution u dont wanna be spending unnecessary.

It sounds like a faulty terminal, usually i notice the same thing happening when the terminals are not tightened properly.

Start off by loosening both terminals, remove the battery, have some sand paper and remove all the dirt accumulated on the terminals of the battery, use a cloth that can be thrown away with some hot water to clean the battery, clean the battery terminals of the car as well in the same way.

Reconnect the terminals and tighten appropriately. If this doesnt work, have it check out!!
