E36 328i fuel consumption shocker

I'm curious as to what modifications can be done to an engine, to make it more economical....considering most of our beemers are old and new cars are so fuel efficient. My one co-worker got the new honda civic 1.8. Same power as my car and does 7.something/100km. Obviously one can't compete with new cars...but you can try...and its all good in the end (saves money)

I'm sure changes would be cam shaft, lighter mechanical parts would play the biggest role in this.

You just buy an economical daily drive and keep your car for the weekends.......The cost in having it modified would outstrip any benefit

your obd codes ...error code is another name i guess... take it to your regular mechanic n get him to check, its how i found out my o2 sensor, air flow and cam sensor was faulty

Or make a new thread asking the guys up there in jhb to give you a hand...alot of people have obd readers, im sure someone here will be willing to read the codes for you
